After doing hair for over 50 years (and cutting the shag since the 70s) I've learned through my customers that the "old school shag is still the favorite shag'- - yes it appears the "wolf cut" and the "butterfly" cut is being sold as the "new modern shag"- - - - the "Pixi" is a short shag... which can & will grow into a "medium shag" (above the shoulders) & eventually becomes a "long shag" if no other cuts are given. If a person has hair down to their knees & wants a long shag without losing ANY length- it is easily done by over directing the guideline that was made at the beginning of the haircut- that guideline is ALWAYS made in the front using the eyebrows/eyes/nose to determine the desired "1st layer" after that it is "1 inch sections overdirected" down the entire head - when that is done you do the same thing (using the existing guideline in the front) on the sides of the head to maintain the same length- at the end of the cut you "frame" the face & "round off the bottom" in the back- the end result should always be the ability to see the lines in the hair as you comb it backwards.
The biggest mistake I've seen when doing repair work on layers is the previous stylist did not do any sectioning & clearly just picked up random pieces of hair- cut it... and called it layers. #hairstyle #haircuts #70sShag #farrahfawcett #HairstylsByMissRubyTuesday
